Selection of 2 microcircuits for the project

AncientNord , 06-20-2024, 03:14 AM
Who has a lot of experience. Please help me choose two microcircuits.
1. Power Switch - should switch the power, the voltage can be 5V or 9-14, the maximum power of the module is 4 watts.
2. Signal Switch - switches signals

I will be grateful for any help 🙏

Too few information. I see you have basically 2 different multiplexer here. Is the multiplexer external IC as I understand? Why do you need microcontroller for that? Does it needs to be driven over uart etc. If not you can use some simple logic and/or buttons. If you need MCU then any MCU can do this. Just drive few outputs based on some inputs. But you need 5V micro here. Any 8 bit micro can do this. Atmel/pic etc. Just have to be 5V capable.

Thank you for responding, the question is only about choosing a multiplexer. the microcontroller is shown because I found a multiplexer that is controlled by 2 or 3 signals. I'm search for controlled 2 signals... I found something like this FSA2380, I can take two pieces, but I don't understand can I switch power if use FSA2380? In general, I lack the experience to choose multiplexers for what I have drawn🥲

Oh sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you are looking for MCU.

But switching power is indeed different. I'm not familiar with high current MUX. Have to search that, but I checked your FSA2380 datasheet and I think it can handle max 350 mA so it won't fit.

Also you don't have to use MUX IC. You can build your own if you can't find proper ones.
QDrives , 06-20-2024, 04:09 PM
Do you want to switch power?
Up to 12V you could simply use a P-channel mosfet. Not a MUX (MUtually eXlusive) though. For voltages higher than the MCU you need a NPN transistor too.
AncientNord , 06-20-2024, 04:12 PM
Is there a similar microcircuit on transistors for switching power? or need to do on transistors?
QDrives , 06-20-2024, 04:19 PM
What do you mean with microcircuit? Do you mean Integrated Circuit (IC)?
If you want ICs for switching power (again not a MUX) there are plenty from ST https://www.st.com/en/automotive-analog-and-power/high-side-switches/products.html

He obviously means all in one solution as IC(one chip that does it all). One chip so don't have to make a schematic himself(using multiple transistors etc). But yeah high-side switches are worth to search for.
QDrives , 06-20-2024, 04:25 PM
There are no such devices to my knowledge. There is no need for such devices too. Simply because the voltage, current, etc. ranges to much.
AncientNord , 06-20-2024, 04:28 PM
So the general concept is this. to switch power, I need to find an IC or do it on transistors, and to switch the signals I can use a MUX
QDrives , 06-20-2024, 04:32 PM
What voltage and current are the currents? For signals (<10mA and <=5V) there are plenty of MUX chips https://www.digikey.nl/en/products/filter/logic/signal-switches-multiplexers-decoders/743
