Internal layer net tie as a component.

sissoux , 12-27-2024, 02:12 PM
Hi everyone,

I’m trying to replicate a feature I really liked in my previous company, which was available in Mentor Xpedition. We called it ILTC (Internal Layer Trace Connection). The idea was to use a "jumper" component in the schematic (the resistor in this example) that could later be placed on the PCB layout, not just on the top or bottom layers like standard components, but also on internal layers.

Does anyone know how to achieve something similar in Altium? Any advice or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Do you mean a net-tie?

The feature is what I need, but as far as I understand it can be either on top or on bottom, not on an internal layer. Or am I missing somehting ?

I do not see why you would not be able to place it on any inner layer too?

Hm, is that defined during component creation ? meaning I need a different footprint per layer as I don't know in advance which layer to use, but that could do it. I'll give it a shot thanks !

No, you can change the layer in the PCB too. It is the component properties, not pad/track.
