First ever PCB, can it be fabricated?

I need to produce this pcb and want to ask it it can be produced. Its a single layer pcb (because its an aluminium pcb and 2 layers are hella expensive).I know its far from ideal, but if it works its fine.

What exactly makes you concerned that it can't be "produced"? Your question lacks specificity.

for example this part. At first i connected all pins of the ic by adding a plane, but ive heared that this can be difficult to reflow, so i added thermal reliefs. I dont know it thats enough

What is the heat producing component that made you choose IMS?How much current goes through your leds? What is the gray bits below the connector?

1. High Power UV-Led (i want to build a bigger grid so i wanna check if it works with an aluminium pcb)2. About 750mA on each Led3. i think its just for visualization, its a smd part

I don't have experience with these PCBs, but if I would need take away heat from a component, I would not use thermal relief. Of course, the problem would be hand soldering, but you can always heat up the whole PCB and that should help to solve the soldering problem. It could be interesting to simulate this ... maybe I could make a video about this

For 750mA you can use a trace of 0.25mm up to 1A for 10°C temperature rise. For the leds, it may be wise to widen the traces for cooling (heatsinking)

gotcha, so remove the reliefs
QDrives , 09-21-2024, 12:51 AM
That is not what I said, unless you are talking about the leds. For the driver I do not know if it would be better too.You do want to remove the bit of copper between pin 3 and 4. I must say that I cannot recall when Altium did/does that.

yea i was talking about the leds, sorry.

If it is you first pcb and will hand solder it, my advise would be to increase the clearance for polygons a bit. Makes hand soldering easier.

If you have aluminium PCB easiest way in my opinion is to solder it on hot plate. I have used hot plates on aluminium boards a lot and it works great. No need to hand solder unless you cause bridges.
