I am facing lot of issues with PCB designers. The main problem is footprint mistakes. We are using Allegro for PCB design. The mistakes are as follows.
Assigning the same footprint name to different parts. Creating footprint in bottom view. we are having our own QC for the footprint verification. I would like to know what are all the good practices to avoid such mistakes in the future.

From my experience the best practice to check footprints is to compare them with real components. For important and expensive projects we always buy samples of components after the schematic is finished and before the PCB is finished, all components used in that design are checked and compared with the real components before the design is sent to production.
