Generic Doubt - Mixed signal analysis

Hi Everyone,i am noticing that Phil has told at few points in the course that he will tell later how decoupling capacitor is selected or how the resistors are selected. i am concerned after seeing just the recommendation of few values to be selected for decoupling capacitor without any concrete formula. I was expecting to get the way to design but it seems like schematic reading . Can anyone help me in this regard whether the course talks more about recommendations only or is there any mathematical approach involved in any component selection ?I am not able to find any Input filter (LC for buck) components selection . how did we select 10nH or how did we know 1.5Mhz as cutoff frequency for power supply ?

People go over and over about this. The answer to most of your question is simple - read the datasheet. For MCU you read the datasheet which recommends usually 100 nF capacitor per power pin and so on. Same goes about LDO or any other regulator. Once more read the datasheet. Everything is written in the datasheet. Also you can take a look at reference designs from manufacturer.

Also google, search, read the books. Experience and general knowledge helps a lot.
