Hello everyone
I have completed my schematic design in Altium. I have used numbers of resistors, capacitors,ics chips, inductors , power converters and connectors.
My problem is when I generate BOM of my project it produces BOM but components are placed random for example in list there is a resistor then capacitor resistor ic resistor connector power converter. I want to say it looks like jumbled BOM
Sir my question is
Can I generate BOM firstly all resistors, secondly all capacitors, then all ic chips and so on?

Hello! If you are not using a template, you need to configure the columns, the grouping and how sorting data within columns. Sorting is handled in the configuration of the BOM. You 'select' the column in reverse order of sorting.
However, there is no 'free' sorting capabilities. Just sorting on values of the columns.
If you added useful columns, you can have the BOM group components: resistors, capacitors, etc.

Before configuring the sorting order it is important to configure the group column. I use Manufacturer Part Number but it depends on the component parameters defined.

You might also want to group on layer, if you have components on both top and bottom.

Perfecting the BOM takes a lot of time as you also need to have your component data correct.
Take the attached BOM for instance... You need:
- Proper component parameters
- Project parameters, optionally variant parameters
- Template

Setting up the BOM export itself is easy: Configure, adding columns you want, setting grouping, indicate sorting and selecting the template.
