New OpenRex Board

bdina77 , 02-28-2018, 06:59 PM
Hello,
I am an undergraduate Electrical engineering student and I am using the OpenRex board for my project. My question is how do access functionalities of the I.MX6Quad that is on my OpenRex board, particularly the IPU and VPU, my final project is a wireless hdmi connector. I am brand new to embedded linux and would like to know how to:

a) find any API's that come with the Imx6Quad
b) how to compile them on the OpenRex board.
c) if there is some kind of SDK that i can use with the openrex board

Thank you,
bdina77

For specific functionalities such IPU or VPU you may need to have a look at Freescale / NXP forum.

We (FEDEVEL) designed the hardware, VOIPAC helped to port Linux (you can find more information here: http://wiki.voipac.com/xwiki/bin/view/imx6+openrex/ ). We have tested the peripherals ( http://www.imx6rex.com/open-rex/soft...x-peripherals/ ), but we have not created any specific applications for OpenRex.

If you need to implement something specific, the best is to search for "iMX6 your_application", find out how other people did it on different boards and that could help you to figure out how to do it on OpenRex. I hope this helps.

Thanks again Robert! I will search for that. As a side note for using the SPI interface would you guys happen to have a way to test that? The datasheet shows that the Imx 6 spi is connected to the raspberry pi headers do you have a pin out for those headers? I might have missed read something but i couldn't find it.

You can find out the connection from schematic:

I do not have any example how to configure SPI. I would google for "iMX6 SPI" or something similar. That could help.
