How to work out component wizard parameters for quad package?
bradderz77 , 09-01-2016, 03:01 AM
Hi all,
when creating a footprint for a 100-lead Plastic Thin Quad Flatpack (PT) - 12x12x1mm Body. I try to create the component using the component wizard by selecting "Quad" I am still unsure how to calculate the above value's from the datasheet. If you wouldn't mind helping i would be very appreciative.
Thanks bradderz77 , 09-01-2016, 03:04 AM
If you can't see the images in the first post, i have attached them to this one

If you have a newer version of Altium you can use the IPC Complient Footprint Wizzard instead (Tools menu). It is much easier to use and calculates different dimension for you, based on the package dimensions which you can get directly from the datasheet. Apart from that it has an option to generate really nice 3D step models.
With the component wizzard you need to enter pad dimensions yourself. Sometimes in the datasheet a land pattern is provided, so you can get pad dimensions, etc. from there. If it's not provided you have to choose the values yourself, maybe take a look at similar pre-made footprints to get an idea.
