PCB component with designator E?

colhany , 12-30-2021, 08:52 PM
Hello
I'm wondering, what is this unmasked pad looking thing? I see it a lot in motherboards, HDD PCBs and more things.. What is it called and what it's use?
Thank you

Perhaps they only want a single letter and T is already used (i.e. transistor or transformer). Then again, the board also shows TV10 and P2 as testpoint like.
In the end, it is up to you to decide how you call it.

Hi

They seem to be Test Points. In home made circuits, they can hel you with some measurement with your tester. In more advanced contest, test is automatic, made from a device and a probe with -needles- in corrispondence of each test point.
Test point need to satisfy some requirement such as clarence beetwen them, distance from component, diameter.
Altium have a tool that you can find under Tool->Test point manager

Hi Roibert
Thanks for your reply
I know about test points, I just though their designator was TP.
