SPICE Simulation

The Chosen One , 08-27-2024, 02:41 AM
So I am currently trying to simulate this 16-12V buck converter, and I cant figure out how to simulate the output voltage. I tried looking at a youtube video on altium academy about a buck converter (https://youtu.be/gIcfKR0lEKE?si=gLs4BsiLdritHcd5) and tried setting it up the same way, but for some reason it still didnt produce the correct output. HELP ME PLEASE

I do not think you set the model for the FETs in the first picture.
In the second you create short circuits as the input for the gate drivers is the same signal (GPIOXX).
Still for the second one you must also have a spice model for the MOSFET, gate driver and diodes for it work.

The second photo is the actual circuit in my schematic, I haven’t tried simulating it.

The first one is the one I tried simulating. How did I not set the model right for the FETs? I just used the model from altium menu

So a generic model? 99% of them do not work the way you expect.
I would create my own symbol and add the SPICE model from the manufacturer.

Alternatively, use LTSpice and use one of the many Mosfet models included.
