Every manufacturer number pins of their buttons differently. Mr Feranec uses buttons from C&K but ESP32 DevKit designer used buttons from N&H Technology.

always check with datasheet

Pins 1 and 2 are internally connected together inside the pushbutton. Same goes for pin 3 and 4.This is according to both datasheets https://mm.digikey.com/Volume0/opasdata/d220001/medias/docus/2576/PTS%20Series.pdf as selected by Robert and https://www.nh-technology.de/T-Mec/PDF/Series_TC/NTC013.pdf in the original.Espressive has a mistake in they symbol. They picked pins 1 and 3 to connect. Looking at the layout and the pin numbering on the datasheet, the footprint also does not match with the datasheet. However, **by luck**, they (Espressive) have picked pins that are on either side of the switch and left the others open.Robert has the symbol, footprint and schematic connections and numbering correct.

In this case, both manufacturers use the same numbering. However, Espressive made errors in their symbol and footprint. **By luck** the pins selected and leaving the other 2 open, it works.
