Multi-board product

I’m new to Altium Designer (using 16.0.5) and want to know best practice for handling the design of a product containing multiple PCB boards due to required form factor dimensions. Is it best to create several boards to one project, or have separate projects for each board? Any tips on how that affects the use of global nets, like Canbus signaling?

Hello @jasonmayo

Most of the projects we do are one board per project.

Occasionally, if the boards are simple (like one page schematic for all the boards) and if the boards will be manufactured in same quantity (e.g. all the boards always go into one system), we may place them into one project. In this case you may need to use separate net names for every board ... e.g. GND1, GND2, GND3... or something similar.
