About Polygon Pour and Ground
mulfycrowh , 01-12-2022, 03:35 PM
Hi everyone,
I used a polygon pour to fill the top layer of my pcb with a ground plane.
As you can see on the attached screenshot, Altium doesn't fill GND in all directions.
I highlighted with the white rectangle what I call a hole.
Holes in plane are not good.
I tried many ways to fill it but Altium doesn't accept them.
On the left side of the white rectangle, it is a region connected to GND pins of a connector.
On the right side, it is the result of the polygon pour.
Both have GND net.
There is no island.
How can I solve this issue ?
Thanks.

Maybe it's the polygon connection settings? Maybe it's set to "Connect only to same net polygons? Or some similar thing, either for the region or the polygon. When something like this happens to me, sometimes, I make a little test polygon on the same net and move it around the board and see what it will and will not connect to. This usually gives me a better idea of what is going on.

I changed the polygon connection settings from "Pour Over Same Net Polygons Only" to "Pour Over All Same Net Objects" and it solved the issue.
Thank you so much.
