To remove violations after placing polygons

Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-04-2023, 06:08 AM
@Robert Feranec Dear Sir, I am following your course on udemy " Learn to Design Your Own Board". I have gone through 111 tutorials successfully and created the Arduino board but now getting following 55 errors after inserting polygons in place of nets. At Tutorial 105 (Before going for Polygons) I was getting 0 Rules violations and PCB health issues. Please guide me what to do now to again get the 0 Violations. Attaching all screenshots.

I can't zoom in, but it looks like net is not assigned to the vias or to the polygons (?)
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-04-2023, 01:22 PM
Actually before introducing polygons there was 0 Violations. Maybe while drawing polygons some component left missing. Please tell me how to assign different colors to different polygons, so that I may distinguish among them and may be I can identify which vias or polygon is not connected.

please, can you zoom in so we can see via nets and polygon nets?
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-04-2023, 07:00 PM
Sure sir

I can see that 15 of the net antennas are vias that are not connected to 2 or more layers.
SMD neck down rule is not standard. Unless Robert told you for a reason to add it, I would suggest to disable the rule.
Other than the neck down, none of these violations come from placing polygons.
In the attached picture I marked some in green. Added unnecessary length to traces. Polygons that have sharp corners. These show me that you try to do it quick and not focused on quality. One of the possible reasons for the polygons is that you have snapping enabled (Ctrl-E). Also set the grid to a higher value (>= 0.5mm) for polygons.
Hide all non essential layers. You only need L1 (top), L2 (Bottom) and top legend in this case.
Add transparency to the objects so we can see the interactions on other layers simultaneously.

@QDrives is right, for example here it is clear, the VIAs are only connected on 1 layer

@Robert Feranec Dear Sir In lecture 119 of udemy course " Learn to Design Your Own Board" asks to work on Directory or Design documentation folders. I am unable to find these folders on my computer. Can you please help me to find those folders? It would be great help for me.
Robert Feranec , 12-22-2023, 11:32 AM
you can download it from here: https://github.com/FEDEVEL/fedevel-project-directory-template
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-22-2023, 11:48 AM
@Robert Feranec Thank you very much for prompt reply sir. I have opened this link , downloaded the zip file (as shown in screenshot) but unable to follow the instructions given in lecture 119.
Robert Feranec , 12-22-2023, 12:39 PM
what minute you can't follow?
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-29-2023, 05:47 AM
from Starting, like you are saying that " open the directory where your schematic is located" then Design file........ and so on. I am unable to find that "Design files" folder. Where it should be, In C drive, where program files are there or like in folder where I have stored related documents? I am attaching screenshot of the folder, later I am talking about. Hope I have made my query clear!
Robert Feranec , 12-29-2023, 06:03 AM
did you go inside of the directory template? there are all the directories, you can copy your project there
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-29-2023, 06:07 AM
Yes sir, I have opened that folder (screenshot) but it is not in line with what is explained in Lecture 119.
Satyaveer Singh Rawat , 12-29-2023, 06:11 AM
like I am unable to find these folders (Marked in screenshot) inside Released files folder

@Robert Feranec Dear sir, Now I am trying to design PCB for my own work. In overall schematic I am able to import readymade schematic and PCB Footprint by using following: Manufacturer Part Search ----> Place but same schematic I am unable to import in component schematic. Please help me to in the following: 1. Can we import readymade schematic and PCB Footprint in component schematic i.e. Schematic library? 2. If Yes then what is the process? 3. If I am able to get readymade schematic and PCB Footprint in overall schematic then is it necessary to have the schematic with footprint in schematic library? Thanks in advance.
QDrives , 01-02-2024, 08:08 PM
First of all, schematic symbols go into a schematic library and footprints into a pcb library.
In order to create a schematic library from an existing schematic (project):
- Open a schematic sheet from the project.
- Design / Make Schematic Library
- Check the boxes on which parameters to group (merge)
- Click Ok

For the footprints it is comparable: Design / Make PCB library.

As for question 3 -- I do not know if I understand it correctly, but no, you do not need the symbols/footprints in libraries to have them on your schematic and PCB. It is adviced to do so, but it is not needed.

you can create libraries from existing projects: https://youtu.be/zhuHE9b4C_8
